Galaxy S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ tips

February 22, 2016

A truly unique design is all that can be said about the S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ brands. It’s because of this that the device also has some unique features you won’t find anywhere else. Some of these include:

Just like the Galaxy Note 5, you can open the camera app on this device from any screen you’re in by double-tapping the Home button. Additionally, this works even if the screen is turned off. You can just leave the camera settings in Auto mode and the device will select the best pictures for you. All these camera features ensure that you can quickly capture amazing images without worrying about focus, balance or any of those other camera features.

Taking videos on these devices is also amazing because they have the capacity to take up to ultra-HD videos at a 3840 x 2160 resolution. The video app is set at full HD (1920 x 1080) by default, but you can crank that up to qHD (2560 x 1440) or UHD (3840 x 2160). The only downside is that qHD and UHD resolutions don’t allow for HDR, and you would have to take what you get. You can be assured, however, that the video will be super clear.

For the front camera, there is a wide selfie feature, which is essentially a panorama for the front camera. You can use this feature when you want to include more people in your selfie.

Edge screen features

With the curved edge of the screen comes a lot of unique features that make life a lot easier. You should first select which side you want the edge to be dominant depending on your hand.

The most important is the favourite contacts, these contacts once selected will get customized notifications and easier access. For example, if you tap on one of these contacts from any screen, you can send them a text, email or call instantly. Swiping onto the screen from the edge will also show you if you’ve missed a call or text from these contacts. If the device is lying face down, a call or notification from these contacts will light up and pulse in their assigned colour.

The edge screen can also serve other fancy features, such as the night clock feature that displays the time when the screen is off. That way, you can quickly check the time without having to press the Power button. You can also add your favourite apps to the edge screen for faster launching and notifications.

Headphones’ sound

This is for the music lovers with a keen sense of audio perception; in case you aren’t satisfied with the sound quality. From the sound settings, select Adapt Sound and the device will run tests for the perfect settings depending on your headphones. It really does make a difference.

You probably have some sensitive material on your device you would rather no one else would see. For this, you’ve got 2 options: switch to Kids Mode or highlight certain files as private. By switching to Kids Mode, only the apps you select will be available, and you can limit these to games and a few other apps. The latter option allows you to hide certain files, either pictures, videos or documents. The selected files will not be visible by default until you provide authorization.
